Abismos e interpretaciones de una niña sola es un texto breve acerca de la novela Abismos de la escritora colombiana Pilar Quintana. El texto hace referencia a los trastornos emocionales de una madre y su hija única de ocho años. Se destaca la importancia de la fotografía como medio de interpretación y exploración a lo que la niña percibe en su medio familiar. Se hace alusión también al ideal de belleza femenina, representado en la muñeca como álter ego de la niña, la influencia de la novela gótica tropical y la naturaleza como ambientación de los espacios en la novela.

Abysses and interpretations of a lonely girl is a short paper about the novel Abismos by the Colombian writer Pilar Quintana. The paper refers to the emotional disorders of a mother and her eight-year-old daughter, an only child. The importance of photography is highlighted as a means of interpretation and exploration of what the girl perceives in her family environment. In addition, allusion is made to the ideal of feminine beauty, represented in the doll as the girl's alter ego, and also to the influence of the tropical Gothic novel, and to nature as the setting of the spaces in the novel.
